Stars Edge Avalanche in Double Overtime

Frisco, Texas --

The Dallas Stars have advanced to the 2024 Western Conference Final with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. With the win, the Stars take a 3-2 series lead and will look to clinch a berth in the Stanley Cup Final in Game 6 on Thursday in Denver.

Jason Robertson scored the game-winning goal at 13:04 of the second overtime period, snapping a wrist shot past Avalanche goaltender Alexandar Georgiev. Roope Hintz also scored for the Stars, while Nathan MacKinnon had the lone goal for Colorado.

The Stars were outshot by the Avalanche 43-31, but goaltender Jake Oettinger made 42 saves to keep his team in the game. Oettinger has now stopped 127 of 130 shots in the series, including 58 of 59 in overtime.

With a 3-2 series lead, the Stars will look to flex their road muscle one last time against Colorado to. The Avalanche have not lost a home game in the playoffs this season, but the Stars have won two of their three road games in the series.

Game 6 of the Western Conference Final is scheduled for Thursday, June 11 at 8:00 p.m. CT at Ball Arena in Denver.
